Gunburn is a lightweight frame SMG - the first ever from the Veist foundry - which are rated B-Tier for endgame PvE by @TheAegisRelic tiering spreadsheet https://linktr.ee/TheAegisRelic, and provides +20 to your hidden Mobility attribute and a ×1.0625 forward movement scalar. The stats are good by comparison with its peers, and are helped further at Tier 4/5 when barrel and magazine perks are enhanced - see https://d2foundry.gg/w/3431536253 for how the weapon stats impact in-game performance. From the @Mossy-Max spreadsheet at https://www.destiny2.science/ base Magazine size is 37 (max 44). Range is compressed on SMGs, so look for a Handling boost from your barrel perk on M+KB, or Stability on Controller. In the magazine slot, a perk to bump Reload Speed is pretty much the only option. With an SMG, you'll pretty much always be engaging in CQC ranges, so Threat Detector is a natural first trait perk column choice - it procs per enemy within 15m up to ×2 stacks, with two stacks providing +40 Stability, +60 Reload Speed with a ×0.81 animation scalar and +100 Handling (+44, +64 and +100 respectively, when enhanced). For add group control, in the second column, Kinetic Tremors emits three 6m AoE kinetic shockwaves after 14 hits (13 enhanced) within 3s of each other, which are treated as weapon damage and inherit damage boosts. Requiring a bit more setup, Ancillary Ordinance builds up to ×5 stacks on elemental kills or kills of elementally-debuffed enemies with abilities or elemental weapons - then, on a kinetic weapon kill, a stack is used to spawn a micro-missile on the corpse to track to an enemy within 30m. With no stacks, kinetic kills on elementally-debuffed enemies instantly spawn a micro-missile. For the Origin Trait, there's either Veist Stinger which provides a 2% chance per hit to refill 25% of the magazine or Search Party which applies a ×0.85 ADS animation scalar and ×1.1 ADS movement speed when there are no allies within 15m. Recommended MW: Handling or Stability, with your preferred choice of mod/enhanced mod to boost mag size, weapon stats, ammo regeneration, or elemental pickups for builds - and don't forget to check any available seasonal fragile mods.

Alternatively, there's the ever-popular SOFA roll of Stats For All and One For All, both procced on hitting three separate targets within 3s of each, which applies +35 Handling and Reload Speed with a ×0.95 reload animation scalar, +10 Stability and Range, and ×1.05 damage dropoff distance, and boosts damage by ×1.35 for a non-refreshable 10s (11s when enhanced). For add control, in the first trait perk column, Bewildering Burst procs for 6s (7s when enhanced) after finishing a reload following a kill, and then on the next hit launches a flashbang above the target that does damage and disorients enemies within 9m for 3.5s. You can use that to create a loop with One For All's damage boost of ×1.35 for a non-refreshable 10s (11s enhanced) after hitting three separate targets within 3s of each to kill the group of disoriented enemies and re-proc the flashbang. You might also consider Kinetic Tremors against tougher enemies which emits three 6m AoE kinetic shockwaves after 14 hits (13 when enhanced) within 3s of each other, which are treated as weapon damage, inheriting damage boosts and also proccing weapon effects like Bewildering Burst. For the Origin Trait, there's either Veist Stinger which provides a 2% chance per hit to refill 25% of the magazine or Search Party which applies a ×0.85 ADS animation scalar and ×1.1 ADS movement speed when there are no allies within 15m. Duelling in 3v3 game modes, if you'd like an alternative to Multimach CCX.

    Trait 1Lone WolfThreat Detector
    Trait 2Kinetic TremorsTarget Lock

Gunburn is a lightweight SMG, so you'll get the +20 to Mobility and ×1.0625 forward movement speed. As per the @hugowo_ spreadsheet at https://www.destiny2.science/, at 100 Weapon attribute, best base TTK is 0.733s (11c 1b) and 70% accuracy adjusted TTK is 0.867s (9c 5b). The stats, particularly when you compare them to best in slot options like Multimach - particularly the one less zoom - are around 5 points lower, but you do have slightly better Airborne Effectiveness and enhanceable barrel and magazine perks at Tier 4 and 5 to narrow the gap. Even though Range is quite compressed, you'll want to push it out to be competitive - the Handling is high enough to consider Extended Barrel, which also maxes out Recoil Direction, or Hammer-Forged Rifling. Combine that with Accurized Rounds as the magazine perk and a Range Masterwork and mod, and you take the ADS range from 16.70m before damage dropoff up to 20.34m. You can see the in-game effect of stat changes at https://d2foundry.gg/w/3431536253 for yourself. For duelling, in the first trait perk column, Lone Wolf is great for flanking, and the gunfeel boosts scale multiplicatively with the Search Party origin trait, or Threat Detector provides information on enemies close by when ADSed (except when they're invisible), as well as usefully boosting Handling, Stability and Reload Speed. In the second column, Target Lock effectively extends useful range, and makes missing a crit less punishing, or Kinetic Tremors is triggered after 14 hits for additional target and AoE damage. For the Origin Trait, Search Party pairs well with the Lightweight Frame, giving ×0.85 ADS animation scalar and ×1.1 ADS movement speed. Recommended MW: Range, with your preferred choice of mod/enhanced mod to boost Range, Zoom or Airborne Effectiveness depending ou your play style.

Reloading after killing an opponent prepares a disorienting grenade to launch a flashbang above the next target, which detonates to disorient enemies in a 9m radius. On an SMG that means you'll need to jiggle peek out from cover to hit an opponent, back into cover for the flashbang, and then re-engage once they're blinded. In the second column, Target Lock effectively extends useful range, and makes missing a crit less punishing, or Kinetic Tremors is triggered after 14 hits for additional target and AoE damage. Alternatively, if you're looking to go all-in to a melee build and need a legendary Monte Carlo, Wellspring generates additional chunk ability energy, shared between any uncharged abilities.
