Mercury-A is the first of a new bow subfamily - high-impact longbows - whose frame intrinsic is to overpenetrate targets, like Armor-Piercing Rounds. There aren't really any peers to assess against - the weapon has higher impact and stability (so a longer perfect draw window), but longer draw time and worse attributes in every other respect, although that's helped at Tier 4/5 when bowstring and arrow perks are enhanced - see https://d2foundry.gg/w/2838279629 for how the weapon stats impact in-game performance. You'll definitely need to use the bowstring perk to improve Draw Time, and the arrow perk to recover any lost Accuracy or improve Reload Speed to improve the time before you're ready to shoot again. In the absence of Archer's Tempo in the first trait perk column to help with Draw Time, there is Successful Warm-Up which applies a ×0.625 scalar after a kill for 6s, with further kills adding 4s (5s when enhanced) at a time to a maximum of 20s or until stowed. In the second column, you can pair that with Kinetic Tremors to emit three 6m AoE kinetic shockwaves after 3 crit hits (2 enhanced). On Prismatic, there's also Elemental Honing which grants an escalating stack of damage up to ×1.4 for 20s (23s enhanced) for each elemental damage type inflicted, which can be refreshed with a new damage type until you've run through all 5. The Tenacity Origin trait stacks up to ×20 on kills, providing +2.5 Handling and Reload Speed and an extra 0.5% damage per stack (max +50 Handling and Reload, and ×1.1 damage boost) until you die. Vanguard Vindication provides up to 3 stacks of ×0.98/0.96/0.94 damage reduction for 10s, for kills within 20s of using a class ability. There's also Häkke Breach Armaments for an additional ×1.15 damage against vehicles, ×1.3 damage against constructs and ×1.45 damage against stasis crystals. Recommended MW: Draw Time, with your preferred choice of mod/enhanced mod to boost mag size, weapon stats, ammo regeneration, or elemental pickups for builds - and don't forget to check any available seasonal fragile mods.

You'll definitely need to use the bowstring perk to improve Draw Time, and the arrow perk to recover any lost Accuracy or improve Reload Speed to improve the time before you're ready to shoot again. For an all-round roll there's a useful interaction in the trait perk combination of Attrition Orbs to spawn a power orb after 5 hits within 5s of each other, to help super generation and proc armour mods and Kinetic Tremors to emit three 6m Aoe kinetic shockwaves after 3 crit hits (2 when enhanced) emits three 6m AoE kinetic shockwaves after 3 crit hits (2 when enhanced) which are treated as weapon damage and inherit damage boosts, and also procs weapon effects like proccing Attrition Orbs' orb generation. The Tenacity Origin trait stacks up to ×20 on kills, providing +2.5 Handling and Reload Speed and an extra 0.5% damage per stack (max +50 Handling and Reload, and ×1.1 damage boost) until you die.
