The reprised Battle Scar is a Lightweight pulse rifle which as a subfamily are currently rated C-Tier for endgame PvE by @TheAegisRelic Endgame Analysis spreadsheet in https://www.destiny2.science/ as "essentially just a worse high-impact auto". The frame intrinsic offers built-in anti-Overload, and +20 to the hidden Mobility stat and ×1.0625 base movement speed as per the https://www.destiny2.science/ Destiny Data Compendium. The stats are decent by comparison with its peers - you can see the stats at https://destiny.report/w/1525080480/battle-scar and hopefully https://d2foundry.gg/w/1525080480 will show how weapon stats impact in-game performance when the site is back up and running. The recoil is vertical but loose, so to tighten that up, look for a barrel perk that helps with Recoil Direction or, if you can handle it just go for extra handling, and then with the magazine perk go for something that helps improve magazine size or reload. For dealing with tougher individual adds, in the first trait perk column Attrition Orbs spawns a power orb after ~28 hits within 5s of each other to proc armour mods. In the second column, for dameg, One For All boosts damage by ×1.35 for a non-refreshable 10s (11s when enhanced) after hitting three separate targets within 3s of each. If you're using the Kinetic Synthesis artifact mod, then picking up the kinetic ammo or a normal special brick will proc both All-Star to boosts damage by ×1.35 and Reload Speed by +100 for a refreshable 6s (7s enhanced), or 9s (10s enhanced) for a heavy brick, with the timer starting only after you ready, or also Adhesive Ordnance generates a Sticky Bomb from thin air, which detonates 0.8s after impact for 6m AoE damage plus applying exhaust for 5s - the explosion is treated as weapon damage so inherits damage boosts and also procs weapon effects like Attrition Orbs. The Veteran's Wisdom origin trait procs on a crit kill or 3 kills within 3s of each other to generate an 8m (9m when enhanced) AoE kinetic shockwave which inflicts Exhaust on enemies, or there's Field-Tested which starts subtly but if you can stay alive to get kills, you'll start to feel the gunfeel stat boosts as you get to the higher stacks. Recommended MW: Handling, with your preferred choice of mod to boost weapon stats, ammo generation, or elemental pickups for builds.

For clearing groups of adds, in the second trait perk column Kinetic Tremors emits three 6m AoE Kinetic shockwaves after 11 hits (10 when enhanced) within 3s of each other, which are treated as weapon damage so inherit damage boosts. You can pair either Shoot to Loot, which lets you pick up remote ammo bricks or orbs from safety by shooting them, which also reloads all your weapons from reserves or Attrition Orbs spawns a power orb after ~28 hits within 5s of each other to proc armour mods - both have their range of effect extended by the kinetic shockwaves.
